Lawyers have again gone wild over collecting bags and other materials at the ongoing annual general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos.
On Thursday, some lawyers besieged the BWC Hotel, opposite Eko Atlantic on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, the venue of the conference and wiped out its services during the conference.
It comes after the NBA was forced to close the old registration center following its destruction by lawyers due to the slow distribution of conference documents.
NBA President Olumide Akpata briefed the meeting on Thursday on the BWC hotel development, expressing his disgust at the lawyers’ conduct.
He said: “Lawyers have taken over BWC Hotel. Lawyers sit at tables and desks in the hotel. It has become impossible for the hotel to carry out its activities.
Following the incident, Akpata sought and obtained permission from other attorneys at the AGM and quickly dispatched the association’s first vice-president, John Aikpokpo-Martins, to the BWC hotel to join officials responsible for the distribution of conference documents in order to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, the NBA withdrew its proposed amendments to the constitution.
